The challenge
Reporting queries over hundreds of millions of order lines were timing out at month-end, and every new tenant added load to a single shared database.
What we built
- Split write and reporting workloads, moving heavy aggregations to pre-computed MongoDB collections refreshed by queue workers.
- Introduced tenant-aware caching and indexes designed around the ten most-used reports.
- Containerised the stack on AWS with autoscaling workers and per-tenant rate limits.
